Year 4/5/6 Cross Country Event

On Wednesday 3rd April 2019, HCPS entered 24 Year 4/5/6 pupils in the annual Cross Country event which took place at Royal Hospital School. There were 6 races altogether that made up the competition. They were the Year 4 boys race, the Year 4 girls race, the Year 5 boys race, the Year 5 girls race, the Year 6 boys race and the Year 6 girls race. The Year 4 races were ran over a distance of 1,500 metres and the Year 5/6 races were 2,200 metres in distance. Each race consisted of 250 or more other pupils that were also taking part. We are pleased to announce that all of the children finished in the top half in their respected races which was brilliant! A special mention would like to go out to Elise (Year 5), Olivia (Year 5), Riley (Year 5), Alex (Year 6) and Lewis (Year 6) who all finished in the top 10 of their respected races. Well done Year 4, 5 and 6, a fantastic effort!

 

 

Under 7's Multiskills Festival

On Friday 29th March 2019, we took 10 Year 2 pupils to participate in the Hadleigh Pyramid Schools Under 7's Multiskills Festival at Hadleigh High School. Within this festival, the boys and girls were mixed up with other boys and girls from different schools. Once in their teams, they competed in 8 different events. Some of these activities included javelin throw, space hopper slalom, hurdles and bean bag throw. All of the children had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed their morning. Well done Year 2!

 

 

 

 

Primary Schools Panathlon Challenge

On Wednesday 27th March 2019, Thomas and Samuel took part in the Primary Schools Panathlon Challenge at Ipswich School Sports Centre, Rushmere. The boys joined together with 2 pupils from Whatfield and 3 pupils from Bildeston, and were put into Team Green. During the day, the team remained as a group, rotating around a carousel of core skills that included sending, receiving and striking activities.. Points were collected by the team during each activity station. Some of these activities included: Bean Bag Throw, Boccia Blast, New Age Kurling, Table Cricket and Basketball Shootout. Both Thomas and Samuel had a great day and loved every activity. The team did fantastically and as a result of this, managed to finish 2nd overall. The team were presented with silver medals, certificates and a trophy. Well done boys!

 

 

 

 

 

Under 11's Quicksticks Festival

On Monday 18th March 2019, we entered 2 teams into the Under 11's Quicksticks Festival at St. Joseph's College. There were a total of 20 teams that took part in this competition. Hadleigh A were put into League 3 where they played matches against St. Pancras, Hillside and Dale Hall. Hadleigh B were put into League 2 where they played matches against St. Mary's Woodbridge, Claydon A, Gusford and The Oaks B. After some hard fought games and showing a great display of skill and creativity on the pitch, both teams managed to finished 2nd in their respected groups. Hadleigh A finished the competition with 2 wins and 1 loss, meaning they scored a total of 11 points. Hadleigh B finished the festival with 2 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss, meaning they scored a total of 14 points! Well done Year 5/6, a great effort!

 

 

Under 7's Dodgeball Festival

On Thursday 7th March 2019,  our Year 2 dodgeball team took part in the Under 7's Dodgeball Festival at Inspire Suffolk. There were a total of 9 schools at this event. The 8 other schools were: Halifax, Gusford, Rushmere Hall, Beaumont, Britannia, Morland, Stratford St. Mary's and Kersey.

Throughout the morning, the squad thoroughly enjoyed every match they played in, managing to win 7 matches and draw 1. This meant the team finished the festival undefeated which was a brilliant effort! Well done Year 2!

 

 

 

 

 

 

Under 9's Multiskills Festival

On Friday 1st March 2019, we took 15 Year 3 pupils to participate in the Hadleigh Pyramid Schools Under 9's Multiskills Festival at Hadleigh High School. Within this festival, the boys and girls were mixed up with other boys and girls from different schools. Once in their teams, they competed in 8 different events. Some of these activities included javelin throw, space hopper slalom, hurdles and bean bag throw. All of the children had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed their morning. Well done Year 3!

 

 

 

 

Under 11's Girls Futsal County Finals

On Wednesday 27th February 2019, our Year 5 girls team took part in the Under 11's Girls Futsal County Finals at Inspire Suffolk. There were a total of 6 schools that participated in the event. They were: Read Oaks, Glemsford, Horringer Court, Britannia and Old Hemstead. We were put into Group B, meaning we played matches against Old Hemstead and Glemsford. The girls played brilliantly during those 2 matches, managing to draw 0-0 and win 4-0. This meant we finished top of our group which took us through to the final where we met Read Oaks. After a thrilling match, Read Oaks just came out on top 4-3 winners. This meant Hadleigh finished runners-up in the county. A fantastic achievement by the whole team! Well done girls!

 

 

Year 5/6 Gymnastics Competitions

It's been a busy week for our gymnasts with two competitions in one week!

They came 3rd in the Under 11's Essex competition at Richard de Clare, Halstead.

Then at the Milano Trio Competition held at The Haberdashers' Aske's Boys' School, our teams came 6th and 12th.

We are very proud of their performances and hard work training for this event!

 

 

Year 5/6 Swimming Gala

On Monday 4th February 2019, HCPS took part the Hadleigh Schools Swimming Gala at Hadleigh Leisure Centre. There were a total of 8 schools that entered the competition altogether. The schools were: Hadleigh, Elmsett, Bildeston, St. Mary's, Whatfield, Hintlesham, Kersey and Stoke By-Nayland. Each school competed in backstroke, freestyle, breaststroke and relay races. Throughout the whole afternoon, the atmosphere that all the children created inside the Leisure Centre was electric. As a result of our team swimming brilliantly, we managed to win the whole competition. We now await County Finals in the Summer Well done Year 5 & 6! 

 

 

 

Year 5/6 Futsal Festival

On Thursday 31st January 2019, we entered a Year 5 team into the Year 5/6 Futsal festival at Inspire Suffolk. We were put into Group A where we played against Causton, Hollesley and Ranelagh. Hadleigh played fantastically as a team throughout the group games, and were rewarded by winning all 3 matches 6-0, 5-0 and 1-0. This meant our girls were through to the play-offs where they came up against Bealings and Whitton. Hadleigh continued their fine form in the play-offs, managing to beat Bealings 2-0, and Whitton 1-0. This not only meant our girls team won the competition and were rewarded with winners certificates and a trophy, but we are also through to the first ever County Finals in Under 11's Girls Futsal. Well done Year 5!

 

 

Year 5/6 EFL Cup Journey

On Tuesday 22nd January 2019, we entered a Year 5/6 team into the Under 11's EFL Cup at Ipswich Town Football Club. We were put into Group D where we played matches against: Cedarwood, Rose Hill, Dale Hall, The Oaks and Britannia B. Our boys played fanstaticly throughout the group matches and managed to win all 5! This took them through to the Quarter-finals where they met Whitton. After another convincing performance, Hadleigh came out 2-0 winners! This meant Hadleigh qualified for next week's Super 8's competition.

On Tuesday 29th January 2019, Hadleigh competed against 7 others schools that had made it to this stage of the cup. The team were: Britannia A, Morland, Pakefield, Colneis, Sidegate, Sebertwood and Bealings. The football on display was of a high qualify with all teasm having to be at their best levels. Respectively, Hadleigh finished the competition with 10 points, managing to beat Colneis, Sebertwood and Morland, losing mataches against Sidegate, Britannia A and Pakefield, and drawing 1 game with Bealings. A top effort by our whole team. Well done boys!

 

Year 5/6 Trampoline Taster Morning

On Wednesday 25th January 2019, we invited a selected amount of Year 5/6 children to take part in a trampolining taster morning, led by Sarah Clarke from Hadleigh High School's PE Department. From this, the children had a thoroughly enjoyable morning while learning different moves and skills they can acheive on the trampoline. Our Year 5/6's would like to say a big thankyou to Sarah Clarke for making the morning very fun and enjoyable. 

 

 

 

 

Under 9's Futsal Festival

On Thursday 17th January 2019, our Year 4 Futsal team took part in the Under 9's Futsal Festival at Inspire Suffolk. There were a total of 11 schools that had entered the festival. We were put into Group B where we played matches against Halifax, Whitton, Claydon, Causton and Stratford St. Mary . All the boys and girls had a great time, while at the same time, playing competitively against the other teams. As a result of their 5 matches, Hadleigh managed to win 4 games and lose 1. Overall the team managed to score a total of 19 goals altogether which was brilliant! Well done Year 4, a top effort!

 

 

 

HCPS Awarded Gold Kitemark Award

The School Games Mark is a Government led awards scheme which was launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community. Schools in England are able to assess themselves across bronze, silver and gold levels of the Mark. We as a school decided we wanted to apply and achieve the Gold Kitemark Award this year. After filling in the application criteria using last year's success in sport, we are thrilled to say we have been awarded the Gold School Games Award. A big thankyou to Ali Furlong for coming into assembly and awarding our school with this great achievement.

 

 

 

Year 5/6 Indoor Sportshall Athletics Festival

On Friday 11th January 2019, we entered a Year 5 team into the Year 5/6 Sportshall Athletics festival at Hadleigh High School. There were 6 other schools participating in the competition. They were St. Mary's, Whatfield, Elmsett, Beaumont, Bildeston and Hintlesham. During the morning, each boy and girl took part in 2 track and 2 field events. These events ranged from relays, obstacle races, throwing events and jumping events. Throughout the entire morning, all the children were kept busy, competing against children from other schools. After all the enjoyable events had finished, the results were announced. Our boys and girls both managed to finish in 1st place in their respected events, which meant overall, Hadleigh C.P.S won the competition. Well done to all the Year 5's that took part, a fantastic effort!

 

 

Year 5/6 Indoor Sportshall Athletics Festival

On Thursday 6th December 2018, we took 18 of our Year 5/6 pupils to compete in the Indoor Sportshall Athletics event at Westbourne Academy. There were 11 schools in total at this competition. They were: Sidegate, Dale Hall, The Oaks, Halifax, East Bergholt, Sproughton, Witnesham, Whitehouse and Somersham and The Heath. Each athlete took part in 4 events, ranging from sprints, long distance running, jumping events, obstacle races and throwing events. As there were over 250 children competing in the same sportshall, the atmosphere was immense! After an enjoyable afternoon of races and events, Hadleigh CPS finished 3rd which was fantastic. Well done to all the boys and girls who took part!

 

 

Year 5 Ipswich Schools Dodgeball Festival

On Thursday 22nd November 2018,  our Year 5 dodgeball team took part in the Under 11's Dodgeball Festival at Inspire Suffolk. There were a total of 6 schools at this event. The 5 other schools were: Grundisburgh, Halifax,  St Mary's Ipswich, Britannia and Beaumont.

Throughout the morning, the squad thoroughly enjoyed every match they played in, managing to win 5 matches and lose 1 match. This was a brilliant result which all the players were very pleased with. Well done Year 5!

 

 

Year 4 Ipswich Schools Dodgeball Festival

On Thursday 15th November 2018,  our Year 4 dodgeball team took part in the Under 9's Dodgeball Festival at Inspire Suffolk. There were a total of 10 schools at this event. The 9 other schools were: Grundisburgh, Ipswich High, Halifax, Sandlings, St Mary's Ipswich, Britannia, Morland, Stratford St. Mary's, Kyson and Otley.

Throughout the morning, the squad thoroughly enjoyed every match they played in, managing to win 6 matches, draw 1 match and lose 2 matches. This was a great result overall and something that the team should be very proud of. Well done Year 4!

 

 

Year 6 Ipswich Schools Tag Rugby Festival

On Tuesday 6th November 2018, we entered a team into the Under 11's Ipswich Schools at St. Joseph's College. There were over 20 schools that had decided to entered the festival, meaning there was nearly 200 children at this particular event. Hadleigh were put into Group C were they would play matches against East Bergholt, Dale Hall, Hillside, Springfield, The Oaks and Halifax. Once again, our Year 6's were brilliantly at finding gaps through the defences or other teams and defending as a team. Because of this, Hadleigh managed to win 6 of their group matches which was a fantastic achievement. Mr Peters was not only impressed with the team's attitude and all-round performances throughout the afternoon, but was also incredibly proud! Outstanding work Year 6's! 

 

 

 

 

Year 6 HHS Tag Rugby Festival

On Friday 2nd November 2018, we participated in the Year 5/6 Hadleigh Pyramid Schools at Hadleigh High School. There were 7 schools at the festival in total. As well as us, the other schools were: Beaumont, St. Mary's A, St. Mary's B, Whatfield, Elmsett and Bildeston. This was a round robin festival, meaning every team played eachother during a 10 minute match. Hadleigh were on top form all morning with their speed, agility and ball distribution, and with this, managed to win all 6 of their matches. Well done Year 6, a great performance!

 

 

 

 

 

Year 2 Futsal Festival

On Thursday 1st November 2018, we entered a team into the Under 7's Futsal Festival at Inspire Suffolk. There were 7 other schools that entered the festival. They were: Halifax, East Bergholt A, East Bergholt B, Trimley St. Mary, Chelmondiston, Sandlings and Morland . All the boys and girls had a great time, while at the same time, playing competitively against the other teams. in total, Hadleigh managed to win 5 matches, draw 1 match and lose 1 match. They also managed to score a total of 22 goals altogether which was brilliant! Well done Year 2, an awesome achievement!

On Friday 12th October 2018, we took 12 pupils to compete in the Year 5/6 Cross Country event at Hadleigh High School. There were 8 schools that entered the event. They were: Hintlesham, Elmsett, Beaumont, Kersey, Whatfield, St. Mary's and Bildeston. For both the boys and girls race, the children had to run a distance of 2,500 metres. There were around 200 children in total competing that morning . All of the HCPS pupils thoroughly enjoyed themselves, with some of them asking if they could run the race again! Overall, Hadleigh finished 2nd in the event which was fantastic. Well done Year 5/6!

 

 

Under 11's Girls Football Festival

On Thursday 11th October 2018, Hadleigh CPS entered a team in the Under 11's Girls Football Festival at Whitton Sports Centre. There were a total of 14 schools that took part in the event. Hadleigh were put into League 2 where we played matches against Whitton, Ranelagh, Claydon, Gusford, Hillside and Whitehouse. The girls played some great football throughout the league matches, managing to win 3, draw 2 and lose 1. This sent them through the to the semi-finals where they came up against The Oaks. Unfortunately, The Oaks came out on top win a 1-0 victory. However, this meant the girls got the opportunity to play for 3rd and 4th place against Hillside. After a 1-1 draw, Hadleigh managed to win the penalty shootout.  This resulted in the girls finishing 3rd overall which was fantastic! Well done girls!

 

 

Under 11's Boys Football Festival

On Thursday 4th October 2018, Hadleigh CPS entered a team in the Under 11's Football Festival at Whitton Sports Centre. There were a total of 24 schools that took part in the event. Hadleigh were put into League 3 where we played matches against Bawdsey, Dale Hall, Shotley, Hillside and Whitehouse. The boys put on a great show throughout the league matches, managing to win 3, draw 1 and lose 1. This sent them through the to the quarter-finals where they came up against Halifax. Unfortunately, Halifax came out on top win a 2-0 victory. Nevertheless, the boys had a great time and performed well as a team. Well done Year 6!

 

 

Year 4 Cross Country Event

On Friday 28th September 2018, we took 12 pupils to compete in the Year 4 Cross Country event at Hadleigh High School. There were 8 schools that entered the event. They were: Hintlesham, Elmsett, Beaumont, Kersey, Whatfield, St. Mary's and Bildeston. For both the boys and girls race, the children had to run a distance of 1,800 metres. There were around 80 children in the boys race, and around 50 children in the girls race. All of the HCPS pupils thoroughly enjoyed themselves, with some of them asking if they could run the race again! Overall, Hadleigh finished 3rd in the event which was fantastic. Well done Year 4!

 

 

Year 5 Dodgeball Festival

On Friday 14th September 2018, we took 12 Year 5 pupils to participate in a Under 11's Dodgeball Festival at Hadleigh High School. There were 7 schools in total that competed in the festival. They were: St. Marys, Elmsett, Bildeston, Kersey, Beaumont and Whatfield. Each school played 3 rounds of dodgeball against every school which were always fast, action-packed games. All the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves during the festival and can't wait to till the next festival! Well done Year 5!

 

 

 

 

The Gymnastics Journey

Gymnastics at HCPS - What a journey this year!

Four pupils attended the Milano Trio competition at Harlow, one of the first schools in Suffolk to attend.  They performed individual and group floor routines and vault.  This was a great experience and the girls worked really hard.

The Key Steps Gymnastics competition started at Westbourne Academy for KS1 and KS2.  Both performed confidently, earning a place in the County Finals at Bury St Edmunds.  At the County Finals everyone had a great day performing to the judges, with our KS2 being placed first.

This led to them travelling to Leighton Buzzard to Harlequinn Gymnastic Centre to compete against the rest of the region, it was a fantastic day with lots of learning and competing and we are proud to say that they were placed third in our region.

Well done to all our pupils this year - You've been fantastic.

 

 

Year 6 Cricket Regional Finalists

On Monday 9th July 2018, our Year 6 cricket team got given the experience to compete in the Regional Cricket Finals at Essex County Cricket Ground. This was the result of our Year 6's winning the County Finals at Woolpit one week ago. At the finals, there were 7 schools representing 7 different counties, with Hadleigh representing Suffolk. The other counties were Essex, Norfolk, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Huntingdonshire. The competition was made up of a round robin, meaning everyone played everyone. After some big 6's being hit, some superb feilding and some tidy catches, the boys managed to finish 6th overall. A great day out, and hopefully one they wont forget!

 

 

Year 6 Cricket County Finals

As a result of winning the Under 11's Ipswich School Cricket Festival, on Monday 2nd July 2018, our Year 6 Boys competed in the Cricket County Finals at Woolpit Cricket Club. Hadleigh were put into Group 1 where they played matches against Sebertwood, Abbot's Hall and Naylend. The boys continued their fine run of form, managing to win all 3 of their group matches. This automatically took us through the the play-off finals for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Facing our Year 6 boys in the final would be Barnardiston and Albert Pye. The boys had to be at their best as the oppositition in both matches were very skilled. All teams finished the play-offs with 1 win and 1 loss, with Hadleigh managing to beat Albert Pye, but convincingly being beaten by Barnardiston. This meant it went down to who had scored the most runs that afternoon. Amazingly, Hadleigh just beat Barnardiston by 6 runs, meaning not only are we the County Cricket champions, but we have now been invited to represent the County at the Regional Finals at Essex County Cricket Ground on Monday 9th July! An amazing achievement boys, well done!

Elmsett, Whatfield and Bildeston also had entered the festival. The competition was made up of a round robin, meaning everyone played everyone. Throughout the afternoon, our Year 5's thoroughly enjoyed themselves by having lots of fun, but still playing with a competitive edge. Hadleigh managed to win all 3 matches against each school, resulting in our Year 5 team winning the festival. Well done Year 5!

 

 

 

Year 5/6 Girls Cricket Festival

On Wednesday 20th June 2018, we entered a team into the Under 11's Girls Cricket Festival at St. Joseph's College. There were a total of 9 primary schools that had entered the festival. Hadleigh were put into League 3 where we played matches against Dale Hall and Halifax. During the league matches, the girls played very well with all of them contributing in either batting, bowling or fielding. Hadleigh went on to draw 1 game and lose the other. This resulted in the girls playing Ranelagh and Bucklesham in the play-off finals. After 2 good performances, Hadleigh managed to win both of these finals games, which resulted in the team finishing 7th. Well done girls!

 

 

 

Year 6 Boys Cricket Festival

On Tuesday 19th June 2018, we took part in the Under 11's Cricket Festival at St. Joseph's College. There were a total of 9 primary schools that had entered the festival. Hadleigh were put into League 2 where we played matches against Copdock and St. Pancras. The boys produced a great team effort at both batting and bowling at thier oppenents, managing to win both of their league matches. This took us into the finals group where we played Dale Hall and Witnesham. The boys continued their good run of form from the league matches, and again, managed to win both of their finals games. Therefore, this meant Hadleigh won the competition overall and progress to the next round. We now await the County Finals on Monday 2nd July at Woolpit Cricket Club. Well done boys!

 

 

Football Match vs Elmsett

On Tuesday 12th June 2018, our Year 3 and our Year 5 football  team took part in a friendly fixture against Elmsett. Both games of football were very entertaining to watch.. Our Year 3 team managed to come victoriuos with a 4-0 victory, and our Year 5 team held onto a 1-0 victory dispite both teams having great chances throughout the match. Well done Year 3 and Year 5.

 

 

 

 

Year 4 Tennis Festival

On Wednesday 6th June 2018, we entered 3 teams in the Hadleigh High School Partnership tennis Festival at Hadleigh High School. Each player was given a rank, which then applied to which court they would be playing thier matches on. During the sunny morning, all of the children had a great time, with all of their matches having a competitive edge to them. Overall, Hadleigh managed to finish 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the competition which was a brilliant achievement. Well done Year 4!

 

 

 

 

Year 6 Inter-Year Rounders Tournament

During SATS week, our Year 6's took part in a Inter-Year Rounders Tournament. They were split into 6 different coloured teams. The team were: The Blue Hereos, The Red Legends, The Green Flossers, The Yellow Unbeatables, The Pick Unicorns and The Orange Tangerines. The results are as followed:

1st Place - The Red Legends (13 Points - 32 Rounders)

2nd Place - The Blue Heroes (13 Points - 31 Rounders)

3rd Place - The Pink Unicorns (11 Points)

4th Place - The Yellow Unbeatables (9 Points)

5th Place - The Green Flossers (8 Points)

6th Place - The Orange Tangerines (6 Points)

 

 

 

Year 4 Tag Rugby Festival

On Wednesday 9th May 2018, our Year 4 tag rugby team took part in the Under 9's Tag Rugby Festival at Inspire Suffolk. There were 21 primary schools in total that had entered the festival. Hadleigh were put into Group 1 where we played matches against Colneis, Sproughton, Cedarwood and St John's. On what turned out to be a very warm afternoon, the team managed to win 3 matches (6-2, 5-2 and 4-0) and draw the other (2-2). A great display by our Year 4 team resulted in Hadleigh finishing the festival undefeated. Well done Year 4!

 

 

 

 

Year 4 Handball Festival

On Tuesday 1st May 2018, we entered a Year 4 team into the Under 9's Handball Festival at Inspire Suffolk. There were 8 other primary schools at the event. They were Colneis, Claydon, Grundisburgh, Britannia, Henley, Springfield, Hintlesham and Bucklesham. Hadleigh played a total of matches against Grundisburgh, Hintlesham, Colneis, Bucklesham and Springfield. Amazingly, our Year 4 team went on to win all 5 games, winning 4-0, 5-3, 3-2, 5-0 and 9-0! A top performance from our whole team who all thoroughly enjoyed their afternoon of Handball. Well done Year 4!

Year 4 Girls Football Festival

On Monday 26th March 2018, our Year 4 girls football team took part in the Under 9's Football Festival at Inspire Suffolk. There were a total of 13 schools that had chose to take part in this festival altogether. Hadleigh were put into Group 1 where they played matches against Britannia, Claydon, Gorseland, Colneis and Sproughton. The girls were fantastic all afternoon, working well as a team in defense and attack. Hadleigh went on to win all 5 of their matches, managing to score a total of 17 goals! However, what was more impressive was that the team did not conceed a single goal themselves! A brilliant performance from the girls! Well done Year 4!

 

 

KS1 & KS2 Gymnastics Competitions

On Friday 23rd  March 2018, our KS1 and KS2 Gymnastics teams took part in the  Key Steps Gymnastics competition at Westbourne Academy. There were 15 schools that had entered the KS1 competition, and 16 schools that had entered the KS2 competition. All teams that entered into the KS1 event had to perform 2 different elements, a floor exercise routine and a vault. All teams that entered the KS2 event had to perform 3 different elements, a body management routine, a floor exercise routine and a vault. 

After an excellent performance in all 3 of our elements by both teams, our KS1 squad finished 3rd overall which was brilliant. Our KS2 team went one better and managed to finish 1st overall which was a huge success. This meant that both our KS1 and KS2 team progress to the county finals which take place on July 5th  at Bury St. Edmunds Leisure Centre. Well done everyone!

 

 

Year 5/6 Quicksticks Festival

On Thursday 22nd March 2018, our Year 5/6 Quicksticks team took part in Under 11's Ipswich Schools Quicksticks Festival at St. Joseph's College. There were a total of 18 schools at this competition. The schools were diveded in to 2 Leagues. Hadleigh were put into League B. Altogether, Hadleigh played 8 matches in total against different schools. Overall, Hadleigh manage to win 4 games and lose 4 games. This resulted in the team finishing joint 3rd in thier league. Well done Year 5/6!

 

 

 

 

Sport Relief 2018

On Friday 23rd March 2018, the whole school from Nursery all the way through to Year 6 took part in organised activities to support Sport Relief 2018. For over an hour, all 550+ HCPS pupils were active around the school. All the children had a great time during their organised activities. Some of these activities included mini dodgeball tournaments, running, skipping, hula-hooping and team games using different types of balls. Year 4/5/6 RHS Cross Country Event

On Wednesday 21st March 2018, HCPS entered 24 Year 4/5/6 pupils in the annual Cross Country event which took place at Royal Hospital School. There were 6 races altogether that made up the competition. They were the Year 4 boys race, the Year 4 girls race, the Year 5 boys race, the Year 5 girls race, the Year 6 boys race and the Year 6 girls race. The Year 4 races were ran over a distance of 1,500 metres and the Year 5/6 races were 2,200 metres in distance. Each race consisted of 250 or more other pupils that were also taking part. We are pleased to announce that all of the children finishing in the top 50 in their respected races which was outstanding! A special mention would like to go out to Elise (Year 4), Riley (Year 4), Alex (Year 5) and Aidan (Year 6) who all finished in the top 3 of their respected races, and because of this, were awarded with a medal! Well done Year 4, 5 and 6, a phenomenal achievement!

 

 

Year 2 Multiskills Festival at HHS

On Wednesday 21st March 2018, we took 10 Year 2 pupils to participate in the Hadleigh Pyramid Schools Under 7's Multiskills Festival at Hadleigh High School. Within this festival, the boys and girls were mixed up with other boys and girls from different schools. Once in their teams, they competed in 8 different events. Some of these activities included javelin throw, space hopper slalom, hurdles and bean bag throw. All of the children had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed their morning. Well done Year 2!

 

 

 

New Indoor Gymnastics Equipment

During the Spring term, Hadleigh CPS has invested in lots of new colourful gymnastics mats and a brand new crash mat. This was made possible through the School's PE Funding. In time, not only will this help teachers and TA's deliver a higher quality PE and gymnastics lesson, but this will also help benefit the before-school and after-school clubs run within the main hall.

 

 

 

 

 

Under 7's Dodgeball Festival

On Thursday 8th March 2018, we took a Year 2 team to compete in the Under 7's Dodgeball Festival at Inspire Suffolk. There were a total of 9 other schools at the festival. They were: Rushmere Hall, Bildeston, Grundisburgh, East Bergholt, Ipswich High, Melton, Gusford, St. Helen's and Whatfield. This event was a round robin whihch means we played against every school. The matches were made up of 3 games, each lasting 3 minutes long. Our players had a great time while at the event, managing to win 5 of their matches and lose 4! Well done Year 2, a great effort!

 

 

 

Year 4 Basketball Festival

On Thursday 22nd February 2018, our Year 4 basketball team took part in the Under 9's Basketball Festival at Inspire Suffolk. There were 15 schools that competed altogether. They were: Gorseland, Bildeston, East Bergholt, Melton, Henley, Shotley, Halifax, St. John's, St, Mary's Woodbridge, Britannia, Orford, Cedarwood, Morland and Colneis. Hadleigh were put into Group A where they played matches against Melton, Gorseland, Britannia and Halifax. Throughout the afternoon, our Year 4's worked brilliantly, attacking, intercepting and defending as a team. Overall, Hadleigh managed to win 3 of their 4 matches which was an excellent effort. Well done Year 4's! 

 

 

 

Year 6 Basketball Competition

On Tuesday 6th February 2018, we entered a Year 6 team into the Ipswich Schools Basketball Competition. There were 4 others school that had also entered this event. They were: Halifax A, Halifax B, Capel St. Mary's and Dale Hall. Each game lasted 14 minutes, with the all the girls playing the 1st half of the match, meaning all the boys played in the 2nd half of the match. Both the boys and girls played very well in each game. Overall, Hadleigh managed to win 3 games and lose just the 1 game. This resulted in Hadleigh finishing runners-up in the competition. Well done Year 6!

 

 

 

 

 

Year 5/6 Swimming Gala

On Monday 5th February 2018, HCPS took part the Hadleigh Schools Swimming Gala at Hadleigh Leisure Centre. There were a total of 13 schools that entered the competition altogether. The schools were: Hadleigh, Elmsett, Boxford, Bildeston, St. Mary's, Whatfield, Capel St. Mary's, Hintlesham, Kersey, Stoke, Stratford St. Mary's, Beaumont and East Bergholt. Each school competed in backstroke, freestyle, breastroke and relay races. Throughout the whole afternoon, the atmosphere that all the children created inside the Leisure Centre was electric. As a result of our team swimming brilliant, we managed to finish 2nd overall. Well done Year 5 and 6! 

 

 

Under 11's Gymnastics Competition

On Saturday 3rd February 2018, four pupils represented the HCPS at the British Schools Milano Trio Competition, which was held at Marks Hall Sports Centre in Harlow.  There were three elements to the competition; individual floor, vault and group floor routine.  With over 50 schools from the Eastern Region it was very competitive,  the girls performed their routines and vault extremely well, and were placed 7th in their age group.  A big thank you to Hadleigh Stars and Sarah Bartholomew for all your support.

 

 

Year 5/6 Sportshall Athletics Event

On Wednesday 31st January 2018, we entered a Year 5 team into the Year 5/6 Sportshall Athletics festival at Hadleigh High School. There were 5 other schools participating in the competition. They were St. Mary's, Whatfield, Elmsett, Beaumont and Hintlesham. During the morning, each boy and girl took part in 2 track and 2 field events. These events ranged from relays, obstacle races, throwing events and jumping events. Throughout the entire morning, all the children were kept busy, competing against children from other schools. After all the enjoyable events had finished, the results were announced. Our boys and girls both managed to finish in 1st place in their respected events, which meant overall, Hadleigh C.P.S won the competition. Well done to all the Year 5's that took part, a fantastic effort!

 

 

Year 5/6 Trampolining Taster Morning

On Wednesday 17th January 2018, we invited a selected amount of Year 5/6 children to take part in a trampolining taster morning, led by Sarah Clarke from Hadleigh High School's PE Department. From this, the children had a thoroughly enjoyable morning while learning different moves and skills they can acheive on the trampoline. Our Year 5/6's would like to say a big thankyou to Sarah Clarke for making the morning very fun and enjoyable. 

 

 

 

Year 4 Dodgeball Festival

On Tuesday 16th January 2018, we entered a Year 4 team into the Under 9's Dodgeball Festival at Inspire Suffolk. There were a total of 14 schools that took part. Hadleigh were put into Group B where they played games against Whitehouse, Melton, Hillside and St Mary's. Each match was divided into 3 games. Our Year 4's thoroughly enjoyed their afternoon, managing to win 3 of their matches and lose only 1. Well done Year 4!

 

 

 

 

Gold School Games Award Presented To H.C.P.S

On Monday 15th January 2018, we had a visit from our 2 School Games Organisers, Ali Furlong and Ben Wallis. Ali and Ben were here on a special visit to present our school with the Gold School Games Award in School Sport. This award has been given to only a handful of schools in Suffolk and we could not be more thrilled about receiving it for a third year in a row. Thank you to all the children, staff and especially Mr Peters and Mr Daniels for making this happen. Well done HCPS!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Year 5/6 Indoor Sportshall Athletics

On Thursday 7th December 2017, we took 18 of our Year 6 pupils to compete in the Indoor Sportshall Athletics event at Westbourne Academy. There were 12 schools in total at this competition. They were: Sidegate, Cedarwood, Dale Hall, The Oaks, Halifax, East Bergholt, Sproughton, Witnesham, Whitehouse and Somersham. Each athlete took part in at least 3 events, ranging from sprints, long distance running, jumping events, obstacle races and throwing events. As there were over 200 children competing in the same sportshall, the atmosphere was immense! After an enjoyable afternoon of races and events, Hadleigh CPS finished a respectable 4th, finishing just 4 points behind 3rd place. Well done to all the boys and girls who took part!

 

 

Year 5/6 Football County Finals

On Friday 1st December 2017, our Year 5/6 boys football team took part in the School Football County Finals at Inspire Suffolk. This was the result of the boys winning the Ipswich Schools Festival back in October. At the county finals, there were schools that had travelled from Diss, Stowmarket, Ipswich, Bury St. Edmunds, Newmarket and Sudbury. The event was a round robin meaning every team played against everyone. Therefore, Hadleigh played matches against St. Gregory's, Wood Ley, Sidegate, St. Botolph's, Westley and Exning. Like at the Ipswich Festival, the boys played brilliantly together, defending and attacking as a team. Hadleigh went on the finish the competition as runners-up, managing to win 4 games, draw 1 game and lose 1. This was an amazing effort by the boys which Mr Peters was very proud of! As a result of finishing 2nd, the boys were awarded with certificates and medals. Well done boys!

 

 

Year 6 Basketball Matches vs Hintlesham

On Thursday 9th and 16th November 2017, Hadleigh competed in 2 separate basketball matches against Hintlesham. Both matches were played at Hadleigh on the MUGA. Considering most of our pupils had not practised a huge amount of basketball, all of the children involved did espicially well! Hadleigh managed to win 1 of the matches and Hintlesham managed to win the other. We'd like to say a big thankyou to all the Hadleigh and Hintlesham pupils that took part, as they continued to show a competitive and fun nature during their matches, even when it was getting too dark to see the ball or the basketball hoop! Year 5 HHS Tag Rugby Festival

On Wednesday 15th November 2017, we took 11 Year 5 pupils to take part in the Hadleigh High School Tag Rugby festival. The schools that had also entered the festival were Elmsett, Whatfield, BIldeston and Hintlesham. Every school got the chance to play everyone, meaning they played a total of 4 matches each. Our Year 5's did us proud, managing to win 3 matches and lose 1. We hope the children had a thoroughly good time! Well done Year 5!

 

 

 

 

Year 5/6 Tag Rugby Festival

On Tuesday 7th November 2017, 12 Year 5/6 pupils took part in the Ipswich Area Tag Rugby Festival at St. Joseph's College. This event turned out to be one of the biggest ones yet, as there were a total of 25 schools at this competition. Hadleigh were put into Group 2 where they played matches against The Oaks, Stratford St. Mary, Ranelagh, Sproughton, Henley and Capel St. Mary. Throughout the afternoon, the team played some very swift rugby, looking quick, agile and focused. Because of this, Hadleigh managed to win all 6 of their matches, finishing the afternoon undefeated. A superb job by the squad. Well done Year 5/6! 

 

 

 

Year 1/2 Football Festival

On Thursday 2nd November 2017, we took football squad made up of Year 1 & 2 boys to participate in the Under 7's Ipswich Area Football Festival at Inspire Suffolk. There were 18 other schools that had also decided to enter this competition. The boys were put into Group 4 where they came up against The Oaks, St. John's, Copdock and St Mary's Woodbridge. During their enjoyable afternoon of football, the boys went onto to win 1 game, draw 2 games and lose 1 game. A great effort by the team. Well done boys!

 

 

 

Year 4 Cross Country Event

On Wednesday 1st November 2017, we took 20 pupils to compete in the Year 4 Cross Country event at Hadleigh High School. For both the boys and girls race, the children had to run a distance of 1,800 metres. There were a total of 36 children in the boys race, and a total of 32 children in the girls race. All of the HCPS pupils thoroughly enjoyed themselves, with some of them asking if they could run the race again! A special mention goes out to Riley Dennett and Elise Proctor who both finished 1st in their respected races. Well done Year 4!

 

 

 

Under 11's Girls Football Festival

On Tuesday 17th October 2017, we entered a girls football team into the Ipswich Schools Football Festival at Inspire Suffolk. There were 11 teams in total at this competition. Hadleigh were put in League 1 where they played matches against Causton, Henley, Ipswich High B and Dale Hall B. The girls wasted no time in getting stuck in with all the matches. As a result of this hard work and determination, Hadleigh finished top of their League, managing to win 2 games and draw 2 games. This sent the girls through to the semi-finals where they faced Ipswich High A. This was a very tight game with both teams having good chances to score. As the match finished 0-0 at full-time, it went down to a penalty shoot-out. Unfortunately, the girls narrowly missed out on making it to the final, with Ipswich High A coming out on top. Nonetheless, a fantastic effort by all the girls who thoroughly enjoyed thier day! Well done girls!

 

 

 

 

Under 12's Cross Country Area Championships

On Thursday 12th October 2017, Aidan Hood took part in the Under 12's Cross Country Area Championships at the Royal Hospital School. Aidan had been chosen to represent Ipswich and South Suffolk as a result of finishing 2nd overall in last year's Westbourne Cross Country Event. As this was an Under 12's competition, this meant that Aidan would be racing against 240 Year 7 pupils! The race itself was just under 3000 metres long which was a real test for all the pupils. Amazingly, Aidan finished an outstanding 19th out of 250 racers. This was an amazing run by Aidan and this should be something he should be very proud of! Top work Aidan!  

 

 

 

 

Year 5/6 Cross Country Event

On Wednesday 11th October 2017, Hadleigh CPS took 2 teams to compete in the Year 5/6 Cross Country Event at Hadleigh High School. There were a total of 50 boys and 41 girls that took part in this event. Both the boys and girls race consisted of a 2000m course around the high school. This was a very successful event with the children thoroughly enjoying themselves. Well done to all the boys who raced, which 8 of the them managed to finish in the top 10! Well done to all the girls who raced, which 7 of them finished in the top 20!

 

 

 

Year 5/6 Football Festival Winners

On Tuesday 10th October 2017, Hadleigh CPS entered a team in the Under 11's Football Festival at Inspire Suffolk. There were a total of 23 schools that took part in the event. Hadleigh were put into League 2 where we played matches against Whatfield, Kersey, Gorseland and Bealings. The boys put on a great show throughout the league matches, managing to win all 4 of their games. This sent them through the to the semi-finals where they came up against Kyson. Even though this was a well contested match, Hadleigh came out on top with a 2-1 victory. This progressed HCPS to the final where they played St. Woodbridge. Once again, the boys did not disappoint, a put on another fantastic display and won 2-0! A huge achievement for the whole team who thoroughly deserved it! A special mention would like to go to the defence of the team as they only conceded 1 goal throughout the whole festival! We now await the County Finals on December 1st. Well done boys!

 

 

H.C.P.S Receives Gold Kitemark Award

The Sainsbury's School Games Mark is a Government led awards scheme which was launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community. Schools in England are able to assess themselves across bronze, silver and gold levels of the Mark. We as a school decided we wanted to apply and achieve the Gold Kitemark Award this year. After filling in the application criteria using last year's success in sport, we are thrilled to say we have been awarded the Gold Kitemark Award.

 

 

 

 

Under 9's Football Festival

On Tuesday 3rd October 2017, our Year 4 football team took part in the Under 9's Football Festival at Inspire Suffolk. There were a total on 22 school that had chose to take part in this festival altogther. Hadleigh were put into Group 1 where they played matches against Sidegate, Bealings, Britannia, Ranelagh and Henley. All the matches were very closely contested. Hadleigh managed to win 2 games, draw 2 games and lose 1 game. This was a great effort by the boys which Mr Peters was very proud of! Well done Year 4!

 

 

 

Year 5/6 Dodgeball Festival

On Wednesday 27th September 2017, we took 20 Year 5 pupils to participate in a Under 11's Dodgeball Festival at Hadleigh High School. There were 6 schools in total that competed in the festival. They were: St. Marys, Elmsett, Bildeston, Kersey and Whatfield. Each school played 3 rounds of dodgeball against every school which were always fast, action-packed games. All the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves during the festival and can't wait to till the next festival! Well done Year 5!
